AYM Biog

My attempt to post a Biog for AYM got lost in the ether. Here’s what should be in the Biog for me, Shane McCracken.

Professional:  At Gallomanor we’ve been working for over 8 years getting thousands of young people and their democratic representatives talking through online events such as I’m a Councillor, Get me out of here! and LifeSwap. (www.bigvote.org.uk & www.lifeswap.org.uk).

We also help get those representatives and community leaders using the internet to communicate effectively with a wide range of their constituents through a blog coaching programme called CivicSurf (www.civicsurf.org.uk)
Earlier in 2010 we co-ordinated the digital activity for the Robin Hood Tax Campaign.  Within days the campaign video had 250,000 views, 100,000 facebook fans and 50,000 votes of support for the campaign.

Personal: Having kids of my own has made me even more determined to make the world a little bit better.  I am passionate about ensuring that those in power are accountable to the people that put them there.  I am passionate about ensuring they are transparent in their dealings and I am passionate about the potential that we, the people, have to self-organise and communicate using the internet.
